Understanding how culture shapes sharenting
Sharenting is the practice of parents regularly sharing photos, videos, and updates about their children on social media. It is now a near-universal behavior among digitally connected parents but the privacy risks, cultural norms, and motivations behind it look very different depending on where you are in the world.
By 2030, two-thirds of identity theft could be attributed to “sharenting”
(Coughlan, 2018)

This research asks why. The goal is to understand how sociocultural factors shape sharenting behavior across countries, and what kinds of policies and platform interventions people in different cultural contexts actually support.
